Improving and Editing my Contents Page.

I need to consider how to improve my contents page for my music magazine to make it more professional.

As I have a black space on the top right of the page this seems wasteful and so to improve I will need to consider a way to add something into the page.
Furthermore, I will need to consider how I can make the page more professional and more like a music magazine contents page.

Improvements to Double Page Spread.

I have finished the new copy of my double page spread and made the improvements which will help my double page spread look more effective.

Background to Indie Rock.

Indie rock is a sub-genre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom and the United States in the 1980s. Indie rock is extremely diverse, with sub-genres that include lo-fi, post-rock, math rock, indie pop, dream pop, noise rock, space rock, sadcore, riot grrrl and emo, among others.
Originally used to describe record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock. As grunge and punk revival bands in the US, and then Britpop bands in the UK, broke into the mainstream in the 1990s, it came to be used to identify those acts that retained an outsider and underground perspective.
In the 2000s, as a result of changes in the music industry and the growing importance of the Internet, a number of indie rock acts began to enjoy commercial success, leading to questions about its meaningfulness as a term.

2x Mock-Up of Layout for Front Cover.

I have created two mock-ups of my potential layouts for my music magazine front cover.

These are shown below:

Explanation of Chosen Genre and Audience.

I have analysised a number of music genre's to determine which one I would base my music magazine around these are:

- Indie
- Rock
- Country
- Pop
- R'N'B
- Jazz
- Dance
- Alternative Rock
- Classical

After much consideration I have limited my choice of genre to two genre's:

- Indie
- Rock

With these two genre's I will have several different choices.
One: I could mix both genre's together to create a Indie Rock magazine.
Two: I could create a Indie magazine.
Three: I could create a Rock magazine.

My target audience will be both genders aged roughly 15+.

Ideas for Colour.

I will consider a variety of colours when creating my music magazine. These will include:

- Black and White (To keep the magazine simple, and to express a vintage, theme).
Blue and Yellow (As these are both calm and collective colours using these together would create a cool tone).
Red and White (This would contrast the colours as white is a innocent colour and red could be portrayed as anger or passion).
Dark Shades (This could portray a genre of rock or a more hard rock side to indie, depending on what genre I choice).
- Pastel Shades (This could illustrate the softness of the genre).

After much consideration I will come back to my colour scheme when constructing my music magazine, to analysis which colour scheme will suit my magazine the most.

Ideas for Font.

I have considered a number of fonts to use throughout my magazine.
I will use a variety in my music magazine.
The fonts I have considered are:

Bauhaus 93

Goudy Stout
Kristen ITC

Introduction to my blog.

Hello, my names Holly Jukes and I have just started to study Media Studies at my sixth form, Biddulph High School.  My aim is to create a school magazine's front and context page; both my front cover and my context page will illustrate what my magazine will hold and will be attractive to my target audience, pupils in both the high school and the sixth form but will mainly be centralised on sixth form events but will also include information about the last school prom from July 2011. My magazine will include pictures and information for the reader to have a initial idea on what the sixth form has to offer.

Hope you enjoy my magazine cover and contexts page.
